Here are some of the most common questions we get from players as they begin their football journey with us. 

 

How much are season fees?

Fees: Total: $555.00

$5 - Membership Fee

$50 - Football Alberta Insurance

$500 - Team Fees to cover all Calgary Rage operating costs

Fee Deadline: Before the first game. 

Payment Plans are Available

We don’t want the cost to play to be a barrier for our players getting out on the field. 

 

What are my playing fees used for?

It costs to run the Calgary Rage football team. Player fees make up a very small but vital percentage of our operational budget. $55 of your player fee is dedicated to our team insurance plan (required to play football). The rest of your fees are used to help pay for the required things we need to run our football club: field rental times/space, team travel costs (bus/team lodging), ice & bags/cooler (at each practice) and team training staff (for all games), team “swag” (i.e., game-day clothing for both players and coaches), helmet and team equipment reconditioning/purchasing, jersey replacement, refs and other officials needed for games. 

 

How can I pay for my fees? 

Cheque, Cash, Credit (VISA/MC) and e-transfer accepted (an extra $10 for player fees if paying with credit card)

 

Does the Rage supply equipment to play in?

Yes! We do. We require a $750 deposit cheque or CC form from you before you can take equipment. As you can imagine, this stuff is expensive, so we must take care of these vital assets! Please come prepared with a post-dated cheque or CC form to our registration night. 

No equipment deposit cheque or Credit Card form = no equipment (so please come prepared for us! We appreciate it!).

 

What happens if I do not return my equipment?

We cash your $750.00 deposit cheque! (We don’t like doing that.) Equipment return dates are always right after our season ends.

You will be notified through email and TeamSnap regarding equipment return.

 

Do we also Fundraise?

We do! We HAVE to! Let’s face it, football is an expensive sport to play and operate. We strive to keep our fees manageable for our players and fundraising is how we do this. Fundraising is required and valued teamwork. Our players understand the value of hard work on the football field, and we know as a football club, that hard work must carry over to our fundraising efforts too.

How do we fundraise?

Currently the Rage runs these major fundraising efforts each year:

• Silent Auction – this is a BIG team effort and a GREAT night of fundraising and celebrating our team with our football community, sponsors, family, and friends! 

  • We ask our players to secure auction items to raise money on the night, as well to come ready to rep our team in your jersey the night of the Auction. 

• Fill A Freezer/Bacon Drive (2x/year) – We have discovered that people LOVE bacon. And they will buy cases of it a time! 😉 And we have found a great local community partner to help us sell it to the masses

  • Every player is required to sell at least ONE box of bacon.

 

What happens if I don’t fundraise?

If you choose not to fundraise, a minimum fundraising contribution will be added to your registration fees. The amount will be detailed and outlined within the player registration package. (For the record we WANT & NEED you to fundraise with us! Please don’t make us charge you a fundraising fee…. help the Rage fundraise instead!)

 

What is this “team swag” you speak of…?

Teams that look good, play good! (or so they say….)! Your fees and our fundraising efforts help us to ensure that each season we have some type of clothing, football accessory or Rage related team items that you get for being a Calgary Rage athlete. Swag packs are different every season. 

BUT you will not receive a swag pack if your fees are late! So, get your fees in on time please! We do not like to deny the swag pack to players! 

 

When does the season start?

Typically, the WWCFL season begins early May and ends in late June. But our preparation begins much earlier than that!

Team practices will begin indoors in March/April. Time and location will be updated in our calendar on TeamSnap.

Outdoor team practices will begin in early May and updated in TeamSnap

 

When do we practice?

We will be practicing 2-times each week. We will practice on Monday & Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM. Locations in TeamSnap 

During the regular season (May & June) we will add a Friday night walk-through (if needed and determined by our coaching staff).

 

What is the Rage team culture like?

A football team becomes a football family! Team culture is a product and a reflection of the people who make up our football organization. As we have evolved over the years, we have worked hard to build a culture of teamwork, respect, inclusion, hard-work, and love (for each other, the game of football and our football organization). 

A team’s culture is only as strong as the people who build it, and we welcome you into the Calgary Rage family! We look forward to you being a part of our strong football tradition and a valuable asset to the football team we work hard to build and showcase each season. 
 

How do we communicate and stay in-touch with the Rage and each other?

We currently use:

1. TeamSnap – our team schedule, fee schedules, team functions/events, team updates and the ability to chat as a team are all part of this app. You can also have one-on-one chats and create chat groups (if/as needed). 

2. Email – important team information from our Board of Directors will likely come to your email. Our Teamsnap app will also send you team updates via email. 

3. Instagram (IG)/Twitter/Other: while we don’t use these platforms for team chat or communication, we do exist on other social media platforms to promote our team, interact with our fans and to increase our footprint in that space. We invite you to follow us on our other SM platforms and help us continue to build our Rage brand!
